Food Aid Program

The Food Aid Program is done in different forms. It can be done during normal or difficult times and it targets the needy persons in Rwanda and Burundi. We provide raw food during the Ramadhan or Eid periods (Eid Fitr and Eid Al-Adha). We also support the needy during the pandemic periods such as COVID19.

Our Methods

We collect the money from different people from different countries and buy the raw food which we distribute to the needy persons in Rwanda and Burundi (for now).

Achievements

  • March 2021: 24 families received a two weeks food package.
  • April 2022: 20 families received food package.

Qurbani Donation

As part of our FOOD AID Program, this year we launched, Qurubani Sadada. Your Qurbani of meat will provide comfort and nourishment to families who may not be able to afford meat on Eid-ul-Adha.

Our local team (Rwanda and Burundi) will distribute the meet to the needy persons based on your selection (Cow, Lamb or Goat).

Ramadhan Food AID (Iftar)

Helps us to support impoverished families to get food (IFTAR) during this Ramadhan. These families are vulnerable and they hardly get what to eat during normal times. Sadaqah is a highly rewarded act and guarantees protection against Hellfire. Multiply the impact of your charity by donating this #Ramadhan!
Be the answer to their prayers. This donation is Zakat-eligible. We also provide a Tax receipt for Canadians.

Fitr Charity

Fitr (Zakat ul Fitr) is one of the activities that fall in line with the UA mission. It consists of collecting funds from Muslims living in various western countries including the USA, Canada, England, France, Belgium and other countries. The collected funds are used to purchase raw food for individuals in need residing in Rwanda and Burundi. This activity is conducted once a year at the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Beneficiaries

The beneficiaries of the Zakatul Fitr are individuals of Muslim faith who are extremely poor. These are the people who have no financial means to purchase food to share with their family on the day of Eid celebration.

Expanding The Program

This project has started 6 years ago, where the first five years the distribution was made in Rwanda and last year UA has launched the distribution also in Burundi. This project is expected to be expended in Tanzania and Kenya as well.

Fitr Charity in Numbers

Since the implementation of this program in 2010, United for Assistance has managed to collect this donation from different people. 9 countries participated and we have collected approximately Rwf 11 millions. Rwanda and Burundi are the only countries that have received this charity.
